My first 20 years of my pharmacy career were spent in hospital pharmacy where I gained wide experience across all fields of medicine. My biggest challenge was managing Sunnyside Hospital Pharmacy, a 1000 bed Psychiatric Hospital, with only a technician and a part-time pharmacist.
Rehabilitation became my focus as I worked with the Burwood Hospital rehabilitation teams to ensure patients could manage their medications before discharge. During this time I had the opportunity to further my education by gaining a postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy through Otago University.
My next 10 years were spent helping patients with their medications in the Community Pharmacy setting. I took the opportunity to become MUR accredited and became Unichem Bishopdale Pharmacy’s MMS Champion. I enjoyed working closely with patients and their families.
Eventually I was fortunate enough to be able to follow my passion and work full time with these patients in their homes as a CCPG mobile MMS pharmacist.
Outside of work you will find me with my husband hanging out with our fur babies or just chilling out pottering in our enormous garden. My wee schnauzers are awesome and in my spare time we have fun competing together in agility, obedience and Rally-O.
